The Comic-Con in San Diego was cancelled this year due to restrictions on coronaviruses at major events. The organisers say they plan to return to the festival in July 2021.

The annual festival takes place from 23 to 26 years of age. July at the San Diego Convention Center and surrounding areas. Governor Gavin Newsome of California said Tuesday he wasn’t optimistic that the crowd gathering for things like sporting events, concerts and markets will return in 2020.

Continued monitoring of health care organ recommendations and recent statements from the Governor of California have made it clear that it won’t be prudent to advance plans for this year, organizers said in a statement Friday.
Every year, more than 135,000 people gather in Gaslamp County – often in well-designed costumes – for Comic-Con, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. At the congress, known for its long queues and busy rooms, it will be difficult to deal with social aloofness. It is not uncommon for thousands of people to gather in a chat room, and the showroom is usually full of people watching the goods.

Those who have purchased cards until 2020 have the possibility to receive a refund or to transfer their card to the Convention of 2021. Those who have booked a hotel room will also be reimbursed.
The conference centre is currently being used as a temporary shelter for the homeless to prevent the spread of the virus.

In March, Comic-Con organizers postponed a smaller WonderCon event in Anaheim, California, scheduled for mid-April. Instead, an online version of the event took place.

But the organizers of Comic-Con were in no hurry to make official decisions about their biggest event, which is a huge source of income for San Diego’s restaurants and hotels and a major publicity stop for Hollywood television and films. It is estimated that the event will generate more than $147 million a year for the local economy.
