The first Monday in May is a great day for fashion, this day is the Gala du Met, and the biggest names in fashion and show business put their clothes on the emblematic red carpet. However, the gala was cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. The artistic director of Conde Nast and editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour, was to organise an event on the theme of About Time : Fashion and expensive, and the exhibition shows the way of fashion from 1870, when the museum was founded, to the present day. However, for the first time in 72 years, the Met Gala has been digitized and can still be seen live on YouTube under the title A Moment With the Met, which will be shown on the website of the Vogue magazine. The next costume exhibition, which is part of the Met Costume Institute, will be discussed live, as well as a look at the most memorable moments on the red carpet of the Met Gala.
All this nostalgia also touched the celebrities who were in the spotlight at the gala. Several celebrities, including Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Maria Sharapova and others, laid their nest on some of their red carpets at the Met Gala.
While Kylie said she was having a meltdown in her dressing room right in front of the red carpet, Blake couldn’t resist pointing out that her outfits always matched the colour of the carpet. Other celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katy Perry, couldn’t resist talking about what might have happened if Gala had met.
Pryanka put a picture of herself in the tiara on Instagram and did make-up on a little girl. The signature said: First Monday in May. This year’s theme: Dear princess.
Katy Perry, on the other hand, shared something resembling a sculptural top made to match Katy Jean Paul Gaultier’s hump with whatever the inscription was.
Kylie embarked on a journey through memory and remembered her Met Gala debut, the look that followed and the faults in the wardrobe. On Monday, a 22-year-old make-up magnate recorded his story in Instagram. In 2016, Kylie made her gala debut in a custom silver Balmain dress. My first meeting with @balmain was in 2016, Kylie writes in her history of Instagram. For her vision on Versace in 2017, Kylie said that Donatella Versace asked her to dye her hair blonde at the last minute: We did, and I liked that look.
However, it was in 2018 that Kylie appeared in Alexander Wang’s darkroom with Trooper Travis Scott in a wardrobe that didn’t work. This year’s theme was celestial bodies: Catholic fashion and fantasy, and Kylie wrote that three months after Stormy’s birth, she appeared for gala night. Then Kylie shared her story with Instagram: Nice fact: This dress shouldn’t have had a zipper, but it broke when I kicked it in, so we added it at the exit of the door. But it worked. I like it.
Blake Lively also shared his photos of the past years with the inscription: If the carpet matches Blakes. Metal ball 2018, 2017, 2016.
Jennifer Lopez also attended the Instagram presentation: It’s the first Monday in May… and right now, as we’re on the mat at the MetGala. I wanted to celebrate this day by looking back at some of my favorite moments. It’s always such a fun night in New York City, full of big exhibitions and shows, that I can’t wait to meet again when it’s safe. Which one of my #MetGala looks like your favorite? You tell me!
